No Surprises Act
The No Surprises Act, effective January 1, 2022, is a federal law designed to protect clients from unexpected medical bills. The Good Faith Estimate applies to individuals who are uninsured, paying privately, or choosing not to use insurance. Under this law, you have the right to request a "Good Faith Estimate" of expected therapy costs. You have the right to contest a bill if it is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate.
